Shinden-ryu Tricks

NOTES:
Trick One (Attack: Left middle punch)
1. Right long stance 45 degrees, left arm on chamber, right arm across chest
2. Left punch to soft ribs from long stance, right arm to chamber
3. Pivot on balls of feet to horse stance, left middle block, right punch to soft ribs

Trick Two (Attack: Right middle punch)
1. Left half step 45 degrees to cat stance, right cobra block, left hand on chamber
2. Right wrist grab, left palm strikes elbow
3. Right step behind attacker’s right heel, right elbow to soft ribs, left palm guarding face
4. Twist right, drop to floor, hook right heel and break knee with left side kick

Trick Three: (Attack: Left middle punch)
1. Right half-step 45 degrees to cat stance, both arms guarding belly (left outside)
2. Left parry (or downstrike), right parry (or downstrike)
3. Left palm strike to face, right hand under left arm

NOTES:
Trick Four: (Attack: Right face punch)
1. Right step 45 degrees to horse stance, left cobra block, right hand to left shoulder (palm up)
2. Left wrist grab, right chop to neck
3. Shuffle to right walking stance, right upper cut to chin
4. Step under attacker’s right arm, transferring wrist to right hand. Nerve strike with left thumb into attacker’s right armpit, step back with right foot to horse stance, draw attacker off balance, place arm across knee, hammer fist to elbow.

Trick 5a: (Attack: Left body strike)
1. Left step back to right long stance, right reinforced middle block
(Attack: right body strike)
2. Shoot right foot back to left long stance moving 90 degrees to the right, double arc-hand block
3. Left hand grab attacker’s right wrist, right double-eye-gouge (or backfist)
4. Pivot on balls of feet toward attacker, transfer wrist to right hand. Nerve strike with left thumb into attacker’s right armpit, step back with right foot to horse stance, draw attacker off balance, place arm across knee, hammer fist to elbow

Trick 5b (Attack and Defense: 1-3 are the same as 5a)
4. Pivot on balls of feet toward attacker, transfer wrist to right hand. Nerve strike with left thumb into attacker’s right armpit, step through with left foot to draw attacker off balance, place arm across knee, hammer fist to elbow

Trick 6: (Attack: Right punch)
1. Step right 45 degrees to right long stance, left open-hand middle block, right open-hand high block
2. Pivot on balls of feet to left long stance, right inside chop to neck, left high block
3. Pivot on balls of feet to right long stance, left palm strike to face, right fist on chamber
(Attack: Step left in walking stance, double front choke/grab)
4. Fade to left cat, cross forearms (left outside, palms in), double outer block, grab wrists, left groin kick, shuffle cat stance, double palm strike to soft ribs

Trick 7: (Attack: Left body punch)
1. Left side-step to left long stance, right palm strike to face
(Attack: Right body punch)
2. Pivot on balls of feet to right long stance, left palm strike to face
3. Both hands sweep attacker’s right arm down and clear, right step behind attacker’s right heel, right elbow strike to soft ribs, left palm guarding face
