Easy Thousand-Kick Workout

You should be able to complete this workout in 30 minutes after a little practice. Time is of the essence for both speed and motivation. If you take too long to do this workout, you might not return to it. You can focus power in these techniques with a heavy bag, but doing them in open air is fine, too.

SIDE, ROUNDHOUSE, HOOK: These work best when done ten on a side then switching legs.

REVERSE and FRONT SNAP: Reverse kicks can be done facing away from the bag and alternating legs on each kick. Front snaps work best alternating feet.

no first attack in karateThe precept above reads, “There is no first attack in karate.” It means that karate is a defensive art. In 1922, Gichin Funakoshi carried this saying with him from Okinawa to Japan to teach karate. As karate made its way across the Pacific Ocean to Topeka, this maxim has been preserved.
